Perceptions of aquatic physiotherapy and health-related quality of life among people with Parkinson's disease

Aan Fleur Terrens et al.

Summary: Patients with Parkinson's disease participating in aquatic physiotherapy generally found the program beneficial, but reported lower overall well-being and health-related quality of life. They perceived improvement in function, reduced falls, and increased socialization as enablers of aquatic therapy. Further exploration into interventions to optimize HRQoL for individuals with PD is needed based on the study findings.

How COVID-19 will boost remote exercise-based treatment in Parkinson's disease: a narrative review

Agnes Langer et al.

Summary: This study outlines the challenges of providing traditional physiotherapy and tele-rehabilitation for Parkinson's disease patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the potential of patient-initiated exercise. It discusses methods for remote provision of exercise, including tele-rehabilitation, motivational tools, and virtual reality exercise. A case study of a 69-year-old PD patient who continued climbing training independently with an outdoor rope ladder serves as an example of patient-initiated exercise in difficult times.
