Synthetic Kramers Pair in Phononic Elastic Plates and Helical Edge States on a Dislocation Interface

Summary: In this study, a new topological phononic plate structure is proposed, and it is found that pseudospin and pseudomagnetic field are not invariant properties in this structure. Synthetic helical edge states are successfully devised and experimentally implemented on a dislocation interface connecting two subdomains with identical patterns.

Experimental evaluation of topological photonic edge eigenstates using phase-resolved near-field optical microscopy demonstrates that protected edge states are two orders of magnitude more robust than modes of conventional photonic crystal waveguides, offering potential for error-free photonic quantum networks in integrated photonics.

Observation of chiral edge states in gapped nanomechanical graphene

Summary: Experimental demonstration of chiral edge states in gapped nanomechanical graphene shows that these states can be generated by tuning boundary potentials and are immune to backscattering around sharp bends, exhibiting valley-momentum locking effect. The transition between chiral edge states and valley kink states was successfully realized, opening up possibilities for experimental investigation of exotic graphene-related physics in high-frequency integrated nanomechanical systems.

Frequency dependent wave routing based on dual-band valley-Hall topological photonic crystal

Summary: This study focuses on introducing edge states in topological photonic crystals by constructing interfaces with distinct topological phases to achieve two topological protected bandgaps for flexible wave routing. The routing path of valley edge states highly depends on the operating frequency and inputting port of the excitation source in different meta-structures, providing an alternative way to design topological devices such as wave splitters and frequency division devices.

Topological Corner Modes Induced by Dirac Vortices in Arbitrary Geometry

Summary: A general scheme has been developed to induce topological corner modes (TCMs) in arbitrary geometries, allowing for construction and experimental observation of TCMs in square and pentagonal domains incompatible with underlying triangular lattices. This scheme enables arbitrary specification of numbers and positions of TCMs, which will be crucial for future on-chip topological circuits. The research findings reveal rich physics of aperiodic modulations and advance applications of TCMs in realistic scenarios.
