Ultrafine VN nanoparticles confined in Co@N-doped carbon nanotubes for boosted hydrogen evolution reaction

Liangliang Feng et al.

Summary: The development of highly active, durable non-precious metal electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction is crucial for green hydrogen production. In this study, a novel ultrafine VN nanoparticle dispersed in Co-encapsulated N-doped carbon nanotubes was synthesized via a simple method, exhibiting significantly improved electrocatalytic activity and durability in alkaline media.

Surface plasmon mediates the visible light-responsive lithium-oxygen battery with Au nanoparticles on defective carbon nitride

Zhuo Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, a plasmonic heterojunction of Au nanoparticle-decorated C3N4 with nitrogen vacancies was used as a bifunctional catalyst to enhance the performance of Li-O-2 batteries. The discharge voltage of the battery was significantly increased to 3.16 V under illumination, exceeding its equilibrium voltage, with a stable charge voltage of 3.26 V and good rate capability and cycle stability.

Formation of hierarchical Co-decorated Mo2C hollow spheres for enhanced hydrogen evolution

Yi-Zhong Wang et al.

Summary: Water electrolysis is a promising technology for producing clean hydrogen fuel, but lacks efficient non-noble metal catalysts for large-scale application. This study introduces a multi-step strategy to prepare hierarchical Co-decorated Mo2C hollow spheres for enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction performance through unique hollow structures and Co species incorporation. The as-prepared CMCHSs exhibit significantly improved HER performance in acid with a low overpotential and good cycling durability.
