An enhanced approach to optimally place the solar powered electric vehicle charging station in distribution network

Furkan Ahmad et al.

Summary: This study proposes a comprehensive framework to optimally place solar-powered charging stations in a distribution network, aiming to improve voltage profile, minimize power loss, and reduce cost. The methodology involves a stochastic approach to predict EV load demand and a Feed-forward neural network to evaluate solar power from PV plants. The impact of EV load demand on the distribution network is explored, and an improved chicken swarm optimization method is used to optimize charging station placement in the IEEE 33 bus system, proving its dominance over other algorithms.

Characterization of travel behavior at a university campus: A case study of Sharjah University City, UAE

Khaled Hamad et al.

Summary: By examining the travel patterns of around 2,000 travelers at Sharjah University City in the UAE, this study identified differences among various traveler groups in terms of travel mode, distance, time, trip production, and distribution. These findings can assist campus planners in promoting sustainable transport and addressing obstacles such as harsh weather conditions and inconvenient bus services. Additionally, the study revealed gender differences in modal choice, with females being less receptive to non-motorized transportation but more likely to use buses than male students.

The Impact of Social Networking Sites on Luxury Vehicles Purchase Decision Process in Gulf Cooperation Council Countries

Ghaith Al-Abdallah et al.

Summary: Social networking sites have a significant direct impact on the purchasing decision process for luxury vehicles, particularly in the stages of need recognition and information search. Income and daily time spent on social media have positive moderating effects on this relationship, while education has a negative effect. Specific roles of certain social networking sites, like YouTube, and preferences for platforms such as Snapchat among females were also highlighted.
