Prism Adaptation in M1

Francesco Panico et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown the crucial role of the primary motor cortex in acquiring and storing information during prism adaptation. Noninvasive neurostimulation of M1 can reactivate sensorimotor changes, enhance after-effects, and improve therapeutic effects in reversing treatment-resistant conditions such as unilateral neglect.

Prism adaptation treatment to address spatial neglect in an intensive rehabilitation program: A randomized pilot and feasibility trial

Tomas Vilimovsky et al.

Summary: The study compared Prism Adaptation Treatment (PAT) with Sham intervention in an inpatient rehabilitation setting and found that PAT did not show significant efficacy in reducing spatial neglect (SN) symptoms compared to the Sham treatment within a highly intensive rehabilitation program. Further large-scale investigations are needed to explore the mechanisms behind PAT and Sham interventions for refining or creating new treatments.
