Relationship between scoliosis, windswept hips and contractures with pain and asymmetries in sitting and supine in 2450 children with cerebral palsy

Jackie Casey et al.

Summary: The study found that children with postural asymmetries were more likely to have scoliosis, windswept hips, and flexion contractures in the hips and knees. Efforts should be made to prevent or reduce postural asymmetries, as this may also decrease the likelihood of pain.

Postural asymmetries, pain, and ability to change position of children with cerebral palsy in sitting and supine: a cross-sectional study

Jackie Casey et al.

Summary: This study examined the associations between postural asymmetries, postural ability, and pain in children with cerebral palsy in sitting and supine positions. The results revealed that a majority of the children exhibited postural asymmetries and there was a significant relationship between asymmetric posture and inability to independently change position as well as pain.

Knee and foot contracture occur earliest in children with cerebral palsy: a longitudinal analysis of 2,693 children

Summary: Contracture is a common issue among children with cerebral palsy, with higher GMFCS levels experiencing it first. Early interventions are crucial in preventing knee and foot contractures in these children.

Living Conditions and Social Outcomes in Adults With Cerebral Palsy

Summary: The study found that factors for independent living in adults with CP were mainly related to access to personal assistance, with low rates of competitive employment and having a partner. Higher levels of GMFCS and CFCS were associated with increased access to personal assistance.
