The Development of Brain Network in Males with Autism Spectrum Disorders from Childhood to Adolescence: Evidence from fNIRS Study

Wei Cao et al.

Summary: The study utilized fNIRS to collect resting-state signals from 77 males with ASD and 40 TD males in the ToM network. Results indicated that males with ASD exhibited a comparable global network topology and age-related decreases in the mPFC similar to TD individuals, but showed different trajectories in nodal metrics of TPJ and MFG in comparison to TD participants, which were associated with social and communication deficits. This suggests a distinct developmental trajectory of the ToM network in males with ASD from childhood to adolescence.

Summary: The accumulating research suggests that acute aerobic or resistance exercise may have limited impact on episodic memory function post-exercise, with inconsistent evidence found across three experimental studies involving young adults.

Episodic Memory Encoding and Retrieval in Face-Name Paired Paradigm: An fNIRS Study

Qian Yu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of fNIRS to differentiate cortical activity underlying encoding and retrieval during a paired-associate learning paradigm. It found that task difficulty was associated with greater neural activity in the bilateral prefrontal cortex, while task novelty was linked to increased activation in occipital regions. This suggests that fNIRS has the potential to enhance episodic memory assessments in clinical settings.
