Effect of celiac disease on maternal and neonatal outcomes of pregnancy

Brittney Elliott et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that pregnancies with maternal celiac disease are associated with increased risks of adverse outcomes for both the mother and the newborn, including hyperemesis gravidarum, venous thromboembolic events, growth restriction, and congenital malformations. These pregnancies should be considered high-risk and may benefit from increased surveillance and attention.

The Risk of Adverse Neonatal Outcomes With Maternal Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Kristel K. Leung et al.

Summary: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are more likely to have adverse neonatal outcomes, with increased risk of preterm birth, low birth weight, congenital anomalies, and infants being transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit. Patients with active disease or those requiring anti-TNF therapy are at higher risk for these outcomes.
