Residual stresses in the graded interlayer between W and CuCrZr alloy

Marcello Cabibbo et al.

Summary: One of the challenges in realizing future nuclear fusion reactors is the development of materials that can withstand high thermal loads and particle fluxes. This study investigated the residual stresses in a tungsten coating deposited on a copper-chromium-zirconium alloy substrate using plasma spraying. The results suggest that optimizing the deposition temperature can reduce residual stresses in the intermediate layer.

Comparative analysis of mechanical properties for mono and poly-crystalline copper under nanoindentation - Insights from molecular dynamics simulations

Anil B. Shinde et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the mechanical performance of monocrystalline copper systems, specifically Cu(111), under nanoindentation is superior to any other copper systems. Cu(111) exhibited an average hardness of 12.62 GPa, which is 18.27% higher than that of Cu-poly. The elastic depth recovery rate for Cu(100) was 52.75%, 41.60% and 40.66% higher than that of Cu(100), Cu(111) and Cu-poly, respectively.

Experiments and crystal plasticity simulations for the deformation behavior of nanoindentation: Application to the α2 phase of TiAl alloy

Bangqi Yin et al.

Summary: Nanoindentation experiments and crystal plasticity simulations were combined to investigate the deformation behavior and hardness characteristics of the alpha 2 phase in Ti-43.5Al-4Nb-1Mo-0.1B alloy. The results showed a correlation between crystal orientation and hardness, with slip behavior being influenced by Schmid factors.
