Investigation of Different Groove Profile Effects on Torque Transmission in Shear Mode Magnetorheological Clutch: Numerical Simulation and Experimental Study

Summary: This research paper investigates the torque transmission characteristics in a radial magnetorheological clutch disc with different groove profiles. Numerical simulations and experimental validations show consistent results in torque transmission with different groove profiles, and provide insights into the relationships among transmitted torque, disc radius, rotational speed, and magnetic field. Temperature distribution patterns and optimization of the radial groove profile in magnetorheological clutches have also been analyzed numerically.
