Inclusion Complexes of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs with Cyclodextrins: A Systematic Review

Gustavo Marinho Miranda et al.

Summary: The incorporation of drugs into cyclodextrins has shown promising results in improving the pharmacological and biopharmaceutical properties of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. This systematic review identified 24 different NSAIDs, 12 types of CDs, and 60 distinct inclusion complexes, with meloxicam and beta-CD being the most studied combination.

Cyclodextrins in Antiviral Therapeutics and Vaccines

Susana Santos Braga et al.

Summary: Cyclodextrins play various roles in vaccines against viruses and antiviral therapeutics, including solubilizing and stabilizing antiviral drugs, serving as adjuvants in vaccine development, and acting as pharmaceutical active ingredients. Although still in its early stages, the promising results indicate potential applications in treating viral infections and other pathologies.

Cyclodextrins in the antiviral therapy

Laszlo Jicsinszky et al.

Summary: The article summarizes the interactions between main antiviral drugs and cyclodextrin, as well as changes in the properties of antiviral agents. It points out the potential complexation of antiviral molecules against SARS-Cov2 and discusses the lack of information in designing drugs against viral infections. Additionally, it highlights the potential of cyclodextrin derivatives in improving solubility and bioavailability of antiviral molecules.

Impact of Phlorotannin Extracts from Fucus vesiculosus on Human Gut Microbiota

Marcelo D. Catarino et al.

Summary: Recent studies suggest that plant polyphenols could serve as potential prebiotics by interacting with gut microbiota. This study evaluated the stability and bioaccessibility of Fucus vesiculosus phlorotannins in the gastrointestinal tract, finding low stability and bioavailability but a positive effect on the growth of certain beneficial bacteria and the production of propionate and butyrate, important for intestinal health.
