Spontaneous positive exchange bias effect in SrFeO3-x/SrCoO3-xepitaxial bilayer

Summary: A novel phenomenon of spontaneous positive exchange bias (PEB) is reported in SrFeO3-x/SrCoO(3-x) epitaxial bilayer without any magnetic field treatment, even when inserting a thick SrTiO3 nonmagnetic spacer. The effect is believed to be mainly related to short-range ferromagnetic exchange coupling at the interface without the STO spacer, while the long-range dipole field is responsible for the same bias effect across the nonmagnetic STO. This discovery provides a new approach to realizing and controlling spontaneous exchange bias-based spintronics devices.
