Adsorption of Pb(II) from aqueous solutions using crosslinked carboxylated chitosan/carboxylated nanocellulose hydrogel beads

Xinyi Xu et al.

Summary: Chitosan modification is a vital method for developing adsorbents, and in this research, carboxylated chitosan and carboxylated nanocellulose were used to prepare an efficient Pb(II) adsorbent with excellent adsorption capacity. The adsorption mechanism was identified as monolayer chemisorption.

Novel dual modified alkali lignin based adsorbent for the removal of Pb2+ in water

Zhaohui Zhang et al.

Summary: A dual - modified lignin (DML) adsorbent with high adsorption capacity for Pb2+ was prepared in this study for scavenging heavy metals from wastewater. The results showed that the Pb2+ adsorption mechanism of DML mainly consists of complexation and electrostatic attraction. This adsorbent is valuable for protecting water quality, the environment, and provides a new avenue for lignin utilization.

Tunable micro-structure of dissolving pulp-based cellulose nanofibrils with facile prehydrolysis process

Yachong Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, CNFs were prepared from pre-hydrolyzed eucalyptus raw materials, and the impact of prehydrolysis conditions on the micro-structure of CNFs was investigated. Higher prehydrolysis temperature led to increased crystallinity of CNFs, while prolonged prehydrolysis treatment resulted in the formation of numerous nanopores on the surface of CNFs by breaking hydrogen bonds.

Hierarchically porous poly(amidoxime)/bacterial cellulose composite aerogel for highly efficient scavenging of heavy metals

Huaimeng Li et al.

Summary: The composite aerogel made of bacterial cellulose (BC) and poly(amidoxime) (PAO) is developed for efficient heavy metals removal. It shows exceptional sorption capacities for heavy metals and achieves high removal efficiencies within a short period of time. The aerogels possess superior reusability performance and can effectively treat wastewater with multiple heavy metals coexisting.
