Synthesis of N-Doped Magnetic WO3-x@Mesoporous Carbon Using a Diatom Template and Plasma Modification: Visible-Light-Driven Photocatalytic Activities

Summary: The synthesis of three-dimensional photocatalysts shows potential for chemical conversion and hydrogen generation for environmental protection and energy shortage challenges. In this study, a magnetic WO3-x@mesoporous carbon catalyst was synthesized using diatom frustules as a template, followed by plasma modification to enhance its photocatalytic activity. The modified catalyst showed improved surface area, visible light harvesting, and higher hydrogen generation rates compared to the untreated WO3 nanorods.
