Ti2CTx MXene as a Saturable Absorber for Passively Q-Switched Solid-State Lasers

Hongfu Huang et al.

Summary: A transmissive saturable absorber (SA) with Ti2CTx MXene was successfully fabricated using the spin-coating method and integrated into a diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) Nd:YAG laser for stable passively Q-switched operation. The laser achieved a shortest pulse duration of 163 ns and high slope efficiency and optical conversion efficiency at a pump power of 4.5 W. This work demonstrates the potential of Ti2CTx as a saturable absorber for solid-state laser pulse generation.

Ta2NiSe5 nanosheets as a novel broadband saturable absorber for solid-state pulse laser generation

Bingzheng Yan et al.

Summary: High-quality 2D tantalum nickel selenide nanosheets with excellent broadband saturable absorption properties were successfully fabricated in this study. Utilizing Ta2NiSe5 nanosheets as saturable absorbers, three passively Q-switched solid-state lasers and a mode-locked laser with pulse width as short as 356 fs were realized. This work not only demonstrates the excellent nonlinear optical properties of Ta2NiSe5, but also opens up possibilities for exploring the photonic and optoelectronic properties of ternary chalcogenide materials.

Ultrafast photonics applications based on evanescent field interactions with 2D molybdenum carbide (Mo2C)

Shunxiang Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, Mo2C nanosheets were synthesized using a liquid-phase exfoliation method, and their nonlinear optical properties were investigated. A mode-locker based on a Mo2C saturable absorber (SA) was prepared and employed in fiber lasers, resulting in highly stable mode-locked fiber lasers at both 1 micron and 1.5 micron scales. The experimental results of using a D-shaped Mo2C SA as a broadband mode-locker show advantages compared to previous studies on Mo2C.
