Characterization of additively manufactured AlSi10Mg cubes with different porosities

Summary: Additive manufacturing is becoming increasingly important in the fourth industrial revolution, with the ability to produce complex and custom geometries while reducing the number of required parts and enabling distributed manufacturing with short lead times. However, defects associated with laser powder bed fusion, such as porosity and surface roughness, can limit industrial application and impact long-term structural integrity. Understanding and characterizing these defects is essential for improving the design and production of additively manufactured parts.
