On the helium bubble swelling in nano-oxide dispersion-strengthened steels

Summary: The development of structural materials resistant to harsh radiation environments requires a deep understanding of the early stages of aging processes. In this study, slow positron beam spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy were employed to experimentally characterize the nucleation and growth of helium bubbles in martensitic steels strengthened with nano-oxide dispersoids. The research findings indicate that oxide-dispersion strengthened steels exhibit superior radiation resistance in the early stages of bubble evolution.
