Effect of Ti/V ratio on thermodynamics and kinetics of MC in γ/α matrices of Ti-V microalloyed steels

Ke Zhang et al.

Summary: A model was established to describe the thermodynamics and kinetics of (Ti, V)C precipitates in Ti-V microalloyed steels, which was verified by experimental results. By decreasing the Ti/V ratio, the complete-dissolution temperature, equilibrium volume fraction, and nucleation temperature of MC precipitates all decrease monotonically. Both theoretical calculations and experimental results confirm the reliability and accuracy of the model for (Ti, V)C precipitates.

Irreversible loss of hot ductility following simulated primary cooling of a C-Mn steel to temperatures above the ferrite transformation temperature

K. M. Lekganyane et al.

Summary: The hot ductility of a low carbon peritectic steel grade was investigated, showing that terminating primary cooling at temperatures 70°C above the ferrite start transformation temperature resulted in poor ductility. The formation of thin ferrite films during rebound heating led to irreversible loss of hot ductility due to finely dispersed second phase particles remaining at the austenite grain boundaries.

Effects of chromium on the microstructure and hot ductility of Nb-microalloyed steel

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: Chromium has a significant influence on the gamma/alpha phase transformation and high-temperature mechanical properties of Nb-microalloyed steel. The addition of 0.12wt% chromium can improve hot ductility, reduce the thickness of grain boundary ferrite, increase the number fractions of high-angle grain boundaries, and subsequently enhance the ductility of Nb-microalloyed steel.

The influence of grain size and precipitation and a boron addition on the hot ductility of a high Al, V containing TWIP steels

B. Mintz et al.

Summary: The hot ductility of TWIP steels containing high Al and V was studied at 1000°C, showing that adding boron can improve ductility by segregating to boundaries and causing grain refinement. Fine VC precipitation has a negative impact on ductility, and the ductility of un-recrystallised austenite gradually decreases with temperature from 700°C to 1000°C.

Effects of composition and strain rate on hot ductility of Cr-Mo-alloy steel in the two-phase region

Yaxu Zheng et al.

Summary: The effects of Nb, B, Mo, and V on the hot ductility of 25CrMo alloy steel were studied through hot tensile tests, revealing that the addition of different elements can either improve or deteriorate hot ductility. The influences of ferrite transformation and precipitates on hot ductility were also observed.
