A study on the dissolution kinetics of iron oxide leaching from clays by oxalic acid

Volkan Arslan

Summary: Clay is widely used in various industries due to its special properties. Iron impurity in clay decreases its commercial value by giving unwanted colors. Oxalic acid leaching was used to investigate the dissolution capacity of clay ore, successfully removing 83.90% of Fe2O3. The studied clays have adequate characteristics for ceramics industry and porcelain production.

Submarine Tailings in Chile-A Review

Freddy Rodriguez et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the environmental impact of tailings on land and marine ecosystems, examining issues related to flora, fauna, and the environment. It analyzes the importance of valuable elements in tailings and the legislative frameworks for their disposal in a marine environment across different countries. The study also explores various methods for treating tailings and the necessity of implementing new technologies to recover valuable elements and reduce mining waste.

Effects of Fe+2 and Fe+3 in Pretreatment and Leaching on a Mixed Copper Ore in Chloride Media

Maria E. Taboada et al.

Summary: The study focused on the pretreatment and leaching of a mixed copper ore with varying chloride solutions containing iron. Significant effects of NaCl and curing time on copper extraction were observed, while acid and iron salts had less impact. The optimal conditions resulted in a copper extraction of 80.2%, combining 30 days of pretreatment, 25 kg/t of H2SO4, 50 kg/t of NaCl, and a specific leaching solution concentration.
