A Nanohook-Equipped Bionanocatalyst for Localized Near-Infrared-Enhanced Catalytic Bacterial Disinfection

Xin Fan et al.

Summary: Novel bionanocatalysts with bacterial binding ability and high ROS-generating capacity have been developed. They can selectively kill multidrug-resistant bacteria while leaving healthy tissue unaffected. Additionally, they can enhance their catalytic performance through heat and NIR laser irradiation, achieving effective ablation against bacteria. The treated bacterial populations show a significant reduction, and mature biofilms do not recur.

Supramolecular Macrophage-Liposome Marriage for Cell-Hitchhiking Delivery and Immunotherapy of Acute Pneumonia and Melanoma

Cheng Gao et al.

Summary: A cell-friendly, host-guest chemistry mediated macrophage-liposome conjugate (M-L) has been developed for stable cell-hitchhiking drug delivery targeting inflamed tissues or cancer tissues. This strategy shows potential clinical applications as it does not affect the migratory and invasive behaviors of macrophages and enhances the therapeutic effects of drugs on diseases.

Biocatalytic Nanomaterials: A New Pathway for Bacterial Disinfection

Xin Fan et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the recent efforts in developing BCN-based biomedical applications to combat bacterial infections. The mechanisms, classification, antibacterial activities triggered or augmented by energy conversion, and biofilm eradication with BCNs are systematically introduced and discussed. The current challenges and prospects of BCNs for biocatalytic disinfection are also summarized.

Erythromycin loaded by tetrahedral framework nucleic acids are more antimicrobial sensitive against Escherichia coli (E. coli)

Yue Sun et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of tFNAs as a delivery vehicle for erythromycin into Escherichia coli, showing that tFNAs can enhance bacterial uptake of the drug and promote membrane destabilization, ultimately reducing drug resistance. This novel delivery system may provide an effective way to target antibiotic-resistant bacteria with thick cell walls.
