Drop-Set Training Elicits Differential Increases in Non-Uniform Hypertrophy of the Quadriceps in Leg Extension Exercise

Dorian Varovic et al.

Summary: The study compared the effects of drop set resistance training and traditional training on markers of maximal muscle strength and regional hypertrophy of the quadriceps femoris. Results showed that drop set training may be more effective in inducing non-uniform hypertrophic gains in the rectus femoris muscle, but did not offer advantages in improving hypertrophy of the vastus lateralis muscle or strength-related measures compared to traditional training.

Effects of training frequency on muscular strength for trained men under volume matched conditions

Emil Johnsen et al.

Summary: The study suggests that increasing training frequency from two to four sessions per week under volume-equated conditions does not provide additional benefits in maximal strength gains. However, spreading the total training volume into multiple training sessions throughout the week may be favorable to prevent potential increases in RPE, especially after squat exercises.
