Study on the compatibility effect and active constituents of Atractylodis Rhizoma in Ermiao Wan against Acute Gouty Arthritis

Xiao-Ling Fu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the rationality of the combination of Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex (PC) and Atractylodis Rhizoma (AR) in the classical Chinese medicine prescription Ermiao Wan (EMW) for the treatment of acute gouty arthritis (AGA). The results showed that the combination of PC and AR volatile oil extract was more effective in reducing ankle joint swelling and improving pathological changes compared to other combinations. Additionally, the volatile oil extract of AR was found to enhance the blood exposure level of PC-related alkaloids, affecting the pharmacokinetics of PC and potentially contributing to its enhanced anti-AGA activity.

Luteolin ameliorates inflammation and Th1/Th2 imbalance via regulating the TLR4/NF-κB pathway in allergic rhinitis rats

Jinhui Dong et al.

Summary: The study revealed that luteolin can ameliorate inflammation and Th1/Th2 imbalance in allergic rhinitis rats by regulating the TLR4/NF-kappa B pathway. This suggests that luteolin could be a potential candidate drug for allergic rhinitis treatment.

Reduning injection and its effective constituent luteoloside protect against sepsis partly via inhibition of HMGB1/TLR4/NF-κB/MAPKs signaling pathways

Zheng Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that Reduning injection (RDN) and its effective constituent luteoloside showed significant protective effects against sepsis, suggesting they may be potential candidate drugs for sepsis treatment. The mechanism of action partially involved the inhibition of HMGB1/TLR4/NF-kappa B/MAPK signaling pathways.

Baeckein E suppressed NLRP3 inflammasome activation through inhibiting both the priming and assembly procedure: Implications for gout therapy

Xiaobing Lin et al.

Summary: BF-2 effectively inhibited cell pyroptosis and IL-1 beta secretion in macrophages, as well as NLRP3 inflammasome activation in a gout mouse model. It achieved this by alleviating mitochondrial damage-mediated oxidative stress, inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome assembly, and blocking the MAPK/NF-kappa B signaling pathways. The findings suggest BF-2 as a potential drug candidate for inflammatory diseases related to NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

Xiaohui Wang et al.

Summary: Luteolin effectively protects against acute liver injury induced by LPS through inhibiting the TXNIP-NLRP3 axis, thereby reducing NLRP3 inflammasome activation and liver inflammation, as well as alleviating oxidative stress and hepatocyte injury.

Thioredoxin interacting protein regulates age-associated neuroinflammation

Saifudeen Ismael et al.

Summary: This study suggests that TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome pathway is involved in senile dementia, with TXNIP upregulation in aged animals leading to NLRP3 inflammasome over-activity. Inhibition of TXNIP along with verapamil results in downregulation of TXNIP/NLRP3-inflammasome, improved cognitive and sensorimotor abilities, and potential deceleration of senile dementia.
