The chemistry of gaseous benzene degradation using non-thermal plasma

Chunyu Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the abatement of benzene in a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor. The results suggested that high discharge voltage facilitated the conversion of products to gaseous intermediates and CO2. Possible degradation mechanisms and pathways of benzene destruction in the DBD reactor were proposed.

Simultaneous removal of toluene and styrene by non-thermal plasma-catalysis: Effect of VOCs interaction and system configuration

Runqi Liu et al.

Summary: The simultaneous removal performances of toluene and styrene under non-thermal plasma and NTP-catalysis were studied, revealing that benzaldehyde from styrene inhibited the conversion of toluene. The introduction of Cu-doped MnO2 materials significantly improved VOCs removal efficiency and reduced O-3 generation.

Degradation of trimethoprim in aqueous by persulfate activated with nanosecond pulsed gas-liquid discharge plasma

Jian-Ping Liang et al.

Summary: Activation of persulfate by nanosecond pulsed gas-liquid discharge (NPG-LD) leads to enhanced degradation of trimethoprim (TMP) in water, with a calculated synergetic factor of 1.62. The synergy is mainly attributed to the increased production of reactive species such as hydroxyl radicals. The degradation process is influenced by factors such as discharge working gas, pulse voltage, persulfate dosage, initial TMP concentration, and initial pH value.

Study on the performance and mechanism of degradation of toluene with non-thermal plasmas synergized supported TiO2/γ-Al2O3 catalyst

Mengyu Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the degradation of toluene using various supported photocatalysts in a dielectric barrier discharge reactor. It was found that the combination of plasma and photocatalysts significantly improved the degradation rate and CO2 selectivity while reducing the production of by-products. The Ag-TiO2/gamma-Al2O3 photocatalyst exhibited superior stability and efficiency in removing toluene.

CO2 conversion in a coaxial dielectric barrier discharge plasma reactor in the presence of mixed ZrO2-CeO2

Ju Li et al.

Summary: This study utilized grinding balls made of a mixture of ZrO2 and CeO2 as packing material to achieve higher CO2 conversion and energy efficiency. By investigating the effects of discharge power, feed flow rate, packing length, circulating water temperature, and particle size, the researchers were able to understand the performance of the packing material better. The mixture catalyst may have a synergistic effect and outperforms the materials composed of a single substance.
