Synthesis and Characterization of Sn, Ge, and Zr Isomorphous Substituted MFI Nanosheets for Glucose Isomerization to Fructose

Pannida Dugkhuntod et al.

Summary: Various metals such as Sn, Ge, and Zr were successfully incorporated into MFI nanosheets, resulting in high external surface area and mesopore volume without large metal oxides aggregated on zeolite surfaces. The XRD peaks shifting indicated the successful introduction of heteroatoms in MFI nanosheets, while UV-Vis absorbance spectra showed the tetrahedral coordination of metal species in the zeolite framework. The SnMFI-NS samples demonstrated outstanding catalytic behavior in fructose selectivity (>85%) due to the high dispersion of metal isomorphous species.

Comparison of doped ZSM-5 and ferrierite catalysts in the dehydration of bioethanol to ethylene in a flow reactor

P. Vondrova et al.

Summary: This study investigated the performance of zeolite catalysts doped with various elements in the dehydration of bioethanol, with Ti-deZSM-5 showing the highest conversion rate. Results indicate that catalysts from the ZSM-5 group are more suitable for the dehydration of bioethanol to ethylene compared to FER catalysts.

Fine-tuning the surface acidity of hierarchical zeolite composites for methanol-to-olefins (MTO) reaction

Duangkamon Suttipat et al.

Summary: In this study, zeolite nanosheet composites consisting of ZSM-5 and Silicalite-1 nanosheets were successfully fabricated with adjustable shell thickness, structure, and acidity through hydrothermal synthesis. The composites exhibit highly selective production of propylene in MTO process and significantly lower coke formation, showing great potential for the development of hierarchical zeolite composites in selective light olefin production.

Preparation of β zeolite with intracrystalline mesoporosity via surfactant-templating strategy and its application in ethanol-acetaldehyde to butadiene

Guochao Yang et al.

Summary: The conversion of ethanol to butadiene catalyzed by modified beta zeolites has attracted attention for improving catalytic activity through constructing intracrystalline mesoporosity with surfactant-template strategy. The introduction of intracrystalline mesoporosity effectively mitigates decreasing conversion while preserving butadiene selectivity.

Catalytic improvement of biomass conversion: Effect of adding mesoporosity on MOR zeolite for esterification with oleic acid

Glaucio J. Gomes et al.

Summary: Catalytic processes are crucial for the production of biofuels from biomass. The desilication of MOR zeolite (H-MOR-D) was found to enhance the esterification of oleic acid, indicating that the catalytic activity in the MOR structure is not solely dependent on the density of strong acid sites.

ZSM-5-supported V-Cu bimetallic oxide catalyst for remarkable catalytic oxidation of toluene in coal-fired flue gas

Jianhan Li et al.

Summary: This study utilized a V-Cu bimetallic bifunctional catalyst VCu/ZSM-5 to efficiently remove VOCs and tolerate complex flue gas, with the catalytic material easily fabricated via the impregnation method. The enhanced performance of the V-Cu/ZSM-5 catalyst was attributed to improved reducibility at lower temperatures, higher electron transfer efficiency, more abundant O alpha species, and lower C7H8 activation temperature, providing insights for removing VOCs from complex coal-fired flue gas.

L. Kuterasinski et al.

Summary: The ultrasonic-assisted desilication technique was shown to be an attractive and efficient method for preparing hierarchical zeolites with MFI structure type, which exhibited high selectivity and catalytic activity for the dehydration of ethanol. The use of ultrasounds during desilication procedure led to higher extraction of silicon and aluminum, resulting in elevated mesoporosity and enhanced catalytic properties in the prepared samples.
