Long-Range Dipole-Dipole Interactions in a Plasmonic Lattice

Ashwin K. Boddeti et al.

Summary: In this experiment, long-range dipole-dipole interactions are achieved through surface lattice resonances in a plasmonic nanoparticle lattice, paving the way for engineering and controlling interactions between ensembles of emitters at room temperature.

Lattice Resonances Induced by Periodic Vacancies in Arrays of Nanoparticles

Lauren Zundel et al.

Summary: Periodic arrays of nanoparticles can support lattice resonances, with the potential to induce vacancies in the array resulting in unique lattice resonances. Through a comprehensive analysis using a coupled dipole approach, it was found that these vacancy-induced lattice resonances have subradiant character and originate from symmetry breaking caused by the vacancies. The study also explores the possibility of implementing arrays with vacancies made of nanocylinders in a homogeneous dielectric environment to control the optical response of nanostructures.

Ultra-high-Q resonances in plasmonic metasurfaces

M. Saad Bin-Alam et al.

Summary: Plasmonic nanostructures show great potential in ultra-thin sub-wavelength devices, but are often limited by resistive losses. By utilizing surface lattice resonances (SLRs), researchers have achieved a high quality-factor metasurface in the telecommunication band, offering exciting possibilities for manipulating incident light fields and creating flexible wavelength-scale devices.

Room-Temperature Coupling of Single Photon Emitting Quantum Dots to Localized and Delocalized Modes in a Plasmonic Nanocavity Array

Ravindra Kumar Yadav et al.

Summary: Single photon sources, especially those based on solid state quantum emitters, are crucial for future quantum technologies. Developing broadband, high quantum efficiency, room temperature, single photon sources that can be tunably coupled to optical cavities is essential for the advancement of all-optical quantum communication platforms. Experiments have shown that coupling colloidal quantum dots to surface lattice resonances in plasmonic nanocavity arrays can result in higher Purcell effects, demonstrating effective cooperative behavior in generating single photons.

Near-Field Excitation of Bound States in the Continuum in All-Dielectric Metasurfaces through a Coupled Electric/Magnetic Dipole Model

Diego R. Abujetas et al.

Summary: The study extends a coupled electric and magnetic dipole analytical formulation to investigate the emergence of BICs in all-dielectric metasurfaces. It demonstrates how to excite BICs and reveals their unique near-field patterns and local density of states. This formulation offers an insightful and efficient tool for characterizing BICs and other modes near fields in both dielectric and plasmonic metasurfaces, which can be valuable for designing planar nanophotonic devices based on resonant modes.
