Nucleon-pair approximation with uncoupled representation *

Y. Lei et al.

Summary: The proposed approach simplifies NPA computation by representing collective nucleon pairs in terms of antisymmetric matrices and using matrix multiplication for commutations between nucleon pairs. Additionally, it formulates calculations with and without isospin on the same footing.

New α-Emitting Isotope 214U and Abnormal Enhancement of α-Particle Clustering in Lightest Uranium Isotopes

Z. Y. Zhang et al.

Summary: By combining experimental data, improved alpha-decay reduced widths for even-even Po-Pu nuclei near the magic neutron number N = 126 were deduced. It was found that the reduced widths of (214,216)U were significantly enhanced by a factor of two in certain conditions, indicating abnormal enhancement in specific nuclei under study.

Quadrupole phonon excitations and transition probabilities for low-lying states of neutron-rich Cd isotopes

Y. Bao et al.

Summary: In this paper, the low-lying states of neutron-rich Cd isotopes were studied using the nucleon-pair approximation of the shell model. Good agreement was found between the calculated excitation energies and quadrupole transition probabilities and experimental data, with predictions made for very neutron-rich Cd nuclei. The analysis revealed an asymmetric feature in the B(E2) values with respect to the N = 82 shell closure, mainly attributed to contributions from proton transition matrix elements. Investigating the possibility of connecting low-lying yrast states with quadrupole-phonon excitations in open-shell Cd nuclei showed that specific proton and neutron phonon states can be well described using certain operators.

New shell-model investigation of the lead-208 mass region: Spectroscopic properties and collectivity

Houda Naidja

Summary: This study reports an investigation of even-even nuclei near the Pb-208 closed core within the large-scale shell-model framework. Calculations of low-lying state energies and electromagnetic transitions of Pb, Po, Rn, Ra, and Th nuclei were performed using a new effective interaction H208 derived from CD-Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential. A particular focus was given to the degree of collectivity, revealing a transitional region from spherical nuclear shape to weakly collective behavior.

Nucleon-pair coupling scheme in Elliott's SU(3) model

G. J. Fu et al.

Summary: Elliott's SU(3) model serves as the foundation for describing rotational motion in atomic nuclei using the shell model. By constructing a sufficient number of collective S, D, G... pairs and optimizing their structure, SU(3) symmetry can be realized in a truncated shell-model space. The mapping from fermionic SU(3) model to systems with bosons sheds light on the existence of a decoupled collective subspace in terms of S, D, G... pairs.
