Toward High Mobility Green Solvent-Processable Conjugated Polymers: A Systematic Study on Chalcogen Effect in Poly(Diketopyrrolopyrrole-alt-Terchalcogenophene)s

Zhongli Wang et al.

Summary: Nine DPP-based conjugated polymers were synthesized and the impact of various chalcogenophenes on solubility, film morphology, and charge transport properties was explored. It was found that certain combinations of chalcogenophenes led to high hole mobility in the resulting polymers, especially when processed with green solvents. The study highlights the importance of chalcogenophene selection for designing high mobility CPs.

Building crystal structures of conjugated polymers through X-ray diffraction and molecular modeling

Ze-Fan Yao et al.

Summary: This study establishes possible crystal structures of eight typical conjugated polymers and models their packing structures based on synchrotron X-ray diffractions and molecular simulations. The crystal structures serve as a new platform to predict the packing structures of more related polymer systems, extending the molecular scope. The polymer crystal structure database enables the prediction of multiscale microstructures and charge transport properties of conjugated polymers before experiments, eliminating trial-and-error approaches and accelerating the design of high-performance conjugated polymers.

Application of intrinsically conducting polymers in flexible electronics

Jianyong Ouyang

Summary: Intrinsically conducting polymers (ICPs) have important applications in flexible electronics due to their high conductivity, mechanical flexibility, and biocompatibility. These polymers can be enhanced through secondary doping or blending with soft polymers to improve their conductivity and mechanical stretchability, making them suitable for flexible electrodes, bioelectric monitoring, and strain sensors.
