High efficiency and extremely low roll-off solution- and vacuum-processed OLEDs based on isophthalonitrile blue TADF emitter

Gediminas Kreiza et al.

Summary: This study addresses the issue of efficiency roll-off in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) using isophthalonitrile-based blue Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence (TADF) emitters. By introducing enlarged steric hindrance through methylation and reducing the singlet-triplet energy gap, the modified compound showed improved reverse intersystem crossing rate and shortened delayed fluorescence lifetime. The resulting blue OLED exhibited high efficiency and low efficiency roll-off, demonstrating the potential of isophthalonitrile-based TADF emitters in high-brightness OLED applications.
