The Role of Intermolecular Interactions on the Performance of Organic Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence (TADF) Materials

Eunkyung Cho et al.

Summary: This study investigates the morphological, electronic, and luminescence properties of TADF emitters, finding that guest-guest interactions can affect the red-shift phenomenon in emission, and contributions from both dimer and monomer states are necessary to describe TADF. Additionally, singlet excitons are identified as the main contributors to exciton diffusion length, contrary to recent proposed models.

Unified Framework for Photophysical Rate Calculations in TADF Molecules

Leonardo Evaristo de Sousa et al.

Summary: One of the challenges in organic light-emitting diodes research is increasing device efficiency by utilizing triplet excitons through thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF). The key is to find new materials that can effectively take advantage of this mechanism, which requires estimating rates of various photophysical processes involved in candidate molecules. This method can predict the photophysics of new molecules and compare favorably with other theoretical approaches and experimental results.

Improved Efficiency and Lifetime of Deep-Blue Hyperfluorescent Organic Light-Emitting Diode using Pt(II) Complex as Phosphorescent Sensitizer

Sungho Nam et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel hyperfluorescent OLED was proposed, incorporating a Pt(II) complex as a phosphorescent sensitizer and a hydrocarbon-based and multiple resonance-based fluorophore as an emitter, which significantly improved the efficiency and lifetime of the device. The findings showed that using a multiple resonance-based fluorophore in OLEDs can lead to better understanding and higher performance.

Are the rates of dexter transfer in TADF hyperfluorescence systems optically accessible?

Nils Haase et al.

Summary: Although initially appearing to be consistent with Dexter quenching of the TADF triplet state, further investigation showed that this is not the case. While Dexter quenching by the fluorescent emitter is still likely a significant loss mechanism in devices, it was found to be inoperative under optical excitation. These results highlight a limitation of optical spectroscopy in characterizing hyperfluorescent systems.

Design Rule of Assistant Dopant for High External Quantum Efficiency in Hyperfluorescence Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Ji Seon Jang et al.

Summary: Two assistant dopants, BPAc and BPAcCz, with thermally activated delayed fluorescent features were synthesized to investigate the design rule for enhancing external quantum efficiency in hyperfluorescence OLEDs. It was found that incorporating a donor unit with a small dihedral angle degraded the efficiency of hyperfluorescence devices by Dexter energy transfer. The hyperfluorescence devices with BPAc and BPAcCz assistant dopants exhibited EQE of 16.6% and 15.0%, respectively.
