Synthesis and Photophysical Properties of Light-Harvesting Gold Nanoclusters Fully Functionalized with Antenna Chromophores

Summary: Atomically well-defined gold nanoclusters are used as a new platform to fabricate artificial light-harvesting systems, with densely packed pyrene chromophores leading to triple-emission in blue, green, and red wavelength regions. The energy transfer processes from pyrene monomer and excimer to the central Au-22 are explicitly revealed by femtosecond transient absorption and anisotropy measurements, demonstrating an enhanced photoluminescence of the system.
