Development of a bifunctional BODIPY probe for mitochondria imaging and in situ photo-crosslinking in live cell

Dhiraj P. Murale et al.

Summary: By synthesizing five BODIPY fluorophores and investigating their photophysical and photo-crosslinking properties, pcBDaza-Mito was discovered to selectively stain mitochondria in live-cell conditions and exhibit a 2.3-fold increase in photo-crosslinking efficiency to mitochondria proteins. These results demonstrate that the bifunctional BODIPY probe has great potential for robust mitochondria imaging in live cells.

A New BODIPY Material for Pure Color and Long Lifetime Red Hyperfluorescence Organic Light-Emitting Diode

Young Hun Jung et al.

Summary: A red fluorescent material, 1,3,7,9-tetrakis(4-(tert-butyl)-phenyl)-5,5-difluoro-10-(2-methoxyphenyl)-5H-4l4,5l4-dipyrrolo[1,2-c:2',1'-f][1,3,2]diazaborinine (4tBuMB), was utilized as an emitting dopant in a thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) sensitized hyperfluorescence organic light-emitting diode (HFOLED), demonstrating high photoluminescence quantum yield and device stability. The performance of the HFOLED device with 4tBuMB and 4CzTPN as the sensitizing host outperformed that with 4CzIPN, attributed to higher Forster resonance energy transfer rate and improved device lifetime.

Twisted BODIPY derivative: intersystem crossing, electron spin polarization and application as a novel photodynamic therapy reagent†

Yu Dong et al.

Summary: The photophysical properties of a heavy atom-free BODIPY derivative with a twisted pi-conjugated framework were investigated, showing efficient intersystem crossing and a long-lived triplet state. The electron spin selectivity of the twisted structure was found to differ from that of the spin orbital coupling effect, with potential applications in photodynamic therapy demonstrated through efficient singlet oxygen photosensitizing.
