MHV graviton scattering amplitudes and current algebra on the celestial sphere

Shamik Banerjee et al.

Summary: The subleading terms in the OPE are determined by demanding that both sides of the OPE transform identically under a local symmetry algebra; positive helicity gravitons have null states under this local algebra, leading to differential equations for MHV amplitudes; an n point MHV amplitude satisfies two systems of (n - 2) linear first order PDEs corresponding to (n - 2) positive helicity gravitons.

The effective action of superrotation modes

Kevin Nguyen et al.

Summary: Starting from an analysis of four-dimensional asymptotically flat gravity in first order formulation, we show that superrotation reparametrization modes are governed by an Alekseev-Shatashvili action on the celestial sphere. This two-dimensional conformal theory describes spontaneous symmetry breaking of Virasoro superrotations together with the explicit symmetry breaking of more general Diff(S2) superrotations. By reformulating the asymptotic field equations and symmetries of the radiative vacuum sector in terms of a Chern-Simons theory at null infinity, and subsequently performing a Hamiltonian reduction of this theory onto the celestial sphere, we arrive at this result.

MHV gluon scattering amplitudes from celestial current algebras

Shamik Banerjee et al.

Summary: The Mellin transform of an n-point tree level MHV gluon scattering amplitude satisfies a system of (n-2) linear first order partial differential equations for (n-2) positive helicity gluons, resembling Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations. An additional correction term from the subleading soft gluon current algebra is present. These equations can be used to compute the leading term in the gluon-gluon OPE on the celestial sphere. Similar equations exist for momentum space tree level MHV scattering amplitudes.

Reparametrization modes in 2d CFT and the effective theory of stress tensor exchanges

Kevin Nguyen

Summary: The study focuses on the origin of the effective theory of stress tensor exchanges based on reparametrization modes for computing Virasoro identity blocks efficiently. A derivation of the governing Alekseev-Shatashvili action for these modes is provided, along with an interpretation as the generating functional of stress tensor correlations. The natural emergence of the prescribed rules for computing Virasoro identity blocks is demonstrated when evaluating Feynman diagrams associated with stress tensor exchanges. Additionally, brief comments are made on the connection of these results to gravitational theories and holography.

A note on the subleading soft graviton

Elizabeth Himwich et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the soft part of infinitesimal superrotations can be expressed in terms of metric components at the boundaries, subleading in large radius expansion. The spin memory observable is then reformulated based on these boundary values.

Celestial operator products of gluons and gravitons

M. Pate et al.

Summary: The operator product expansion on the celestial sphere of conformal primary gluons and gravitons reveals recursion relations between operators with conformal weights differing by half-integers. For tree-level Einstein-Yang-Mills theory, these recursion relations tightly constrain the leading celestial OPE coefficients, which are completely determined by the Euler beta function. The poles in the beta functions are associated with conformally soft currents.

The structure of IR divergences in celestial gluon amplitudes

Hernan A. Gonzalez et al.

Summary: The all-loop resummation of SU(N) gauge theory amplitudes factors into an IR-divergent factor and a finite piece, with the latter being process-dependent. This factorization persists for celestial amplitudes, where the soft/collinear factor becomes a scalar correlator. The effect on the hard amplitude is a shift in scaling dimensions by an infinite amount proportional to the cusp anomalous dimension.

State-operator correspondence in celestial conformal field theory

Erin Crawley et al.

Summary: In 4D celestial holography, a new entry defining 2D boundary states living on oriented circles on the celestial sphere has been added to the bulk-to-boundary dictionary. These states are constructed using the 2D CFT state-operator correspondence, and can encode the same information as their 4D bulk counterparts but are organized in a radically different manner. The BPZ construction is applied to give an inner product on such states and scattering amplitudes are calculated using BPZ inner products between states with opposite orientations on the same circle.

Coadjoint representation of the BMS group on celestial Riemann surfaces

Glenn Barnich et al.

Summary: The coadjoint representation of the BMS group in four dimensions is constructed in a formulation that covers both the sphere and the punctured plane. Structure constants are derived for different choices of bases, and the conserved current algebra of non-radiative asymptotically flat spacetimes is explicitly interpreted in these terms.

Holographic soft S-matrix in QED and gravity

Nikhil Kalyanapuram

Summary: At leading order, it is known that the S-matrices in QED and gravity can be factorized due to infrared contributions, providing clear determinations of the divergent parts. The soft S-matrices defined in this way are entirely described in terms of two-dimensional models on the celestial sphere, involving two real scalar fields, enabling the expression of soft S-matrices for real and virtual divergences as two-dimensional correlation functions. The implications of this for finding holographic representations of scattering amplitudes in QED and gravity are discussed, as well as the emergence of simple double copy structures during the analysis.

Non-abelian infrared divergences on the celestial sphere

Lorenzo Magnea

Summary: This study explores the infrared factorization of non-abelian multi-particle scattering amplitudes, identifying a universal color operator responsible for infrared divergences. The color-dipole contributions to the infrared operator are found to have a simple expression in certain coordinates, with scale and coupling factors separated from kinematics and color. By generalizing earlier suggestions in abelian theory, the study demonstrates that the infrared operator can be computed as a correlator of vertex operators in a conformal field theory. Verifications through OPE confirm the theory's predictions on collinear limits and tree-level factorization of soft real radiation.

Soft gravity by squaring soft QED on the celestial sphere

Nikhil Kalyanapuram

Summary: The authors reinterpret the soft S matrices as correlation functions of certain two-dimensional models of topological defects and point out the double-copy structure between the soft photon and soft graviton cases. They propose a putative classical double copy between the corresponding topological models and rederive gauge invariance and the equivalence principle as Ward identities of the two-dimensional theories.
