Divergent ⇒ complex amplitudes in two dimensional string theory

Ashoke Sen

Summary: Recent research has found remarkable agreement between the one instanton contribution to scattering amplitudes in two dimensional string theory and those in the matrix model. By analytically continuing external energies to imaginary values, the comparison was carried out numerically. Insights from string field theory were used to provide finite expressions for string theory amplitudes for real energies, and it was analytically shown that the imaginary parts of the string theory amplitudes reproduce the full matrix model results for general scattering amplitudes involving multiple closed strings.

Normalization of D-instanton amplitudes

Summary: This paper investigates the contributions of D-instantons to string amplitudes, using string field theory and world-sheet descriptions to resolve the issue of normalization constant. The results of the study align with the matrix model results obtained by Balthazar, Rodriguez, and Yin.

Where Is String Theory in the Space of Scattering Amplitudes?

Summary: The study employs S-matrix bootstrap to investigate graviton scattering amplitudes in ten dimensions, leading to the exclusion of a negative region, approval of a garden region, and the exclusion of an intermediate swamp region. Interestingly, string theory appears to cover almost all the garden region at weak coupling and the swamp boundary at strong coupling.

D-instantons, string field theory and two dimensional string theory

Summary: In their study, Balthazar, Rodriguez, and Yin computed the one instanton contribution to the two-point scattering amplitude in two-dimensional string theory and resolved four undetermined constants in the world-sheet approach using string field theory. Three of these constants were determined to be consistent with numerical results, while the fourth constant showed a slight discrepancy.
