AdS swampland conjectures and light fermions

Eduardo Gonzalo et al.

Summary: This study examines the constraints on D-dimensional theories in M-D, dS(D) and AdS(D) backgrounds in the context of AdS swampland conjectures, particularly focusing on the non-SUSY AdS instability conjecture and the AdS distance conjecture. The results suggest the importance of the light fermion conjecture for M-D and dS(D) vacua, indicating the presence of a surplus of light fermions in certain conditions.

The FL bound and its phenomenological implications

Miguel Montero et al.

Summary: This paper establishes the Festina Lente (FL) bound with a fixed constant, explores its extensions in various scenarios, and discusses its phenomenological implications. Evidence is provided that the FL bound may have impacts even when gravity is decoupled in certain situations.

Contracting cosmologies and the swampland

Heliudson Bernardo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the cosmology obtained using scalar fields with negative potential energy, and applies the covariant entropy bound and distance conjecture to derive constraints on the potential. The findings suggest that the relative slope of the potential is bounded from below by a constant in Planck units for slow Ekpyrotic contraction.

Dimensional reduction and (Anti) de Sitter bounds

Tom Rudelius

Summary: Dimensional reduction is a powerful tool for delineating the boundary between string theory and the swampland. By analyzing the gradient of the scalar field and the mass scale of light particles in terms of the cosmological constant, it can help explain certain ambiguous constants in string theory.

The Swampland Conjectures: A Bridge from Quantum Gravity to Particle Physics

Mariana Grana et al.

Summary: The swampland theory consists of low-energy effective field theories that cannot be consistently coupled to quantum gravity. Effective theories should have certain conjectural properties to avoid falling into the swampland. These theories have diverse applications in particle physics, making predictions on neutrino masses, the cosmological constant, electroweak and QCD scales, among others.

Most constraining cosmological neutrino mass bounds

Eleonora Di Valentino et al.

Summary: By utilizing the most recent cosmological data sets, we have established the most constraining upper limit on neutrino mass to date, setting it at 0.09 eV at 95% confidence level. This challenges the viability of the inverted mass ordering as the underlying neutrino mass pattern. The results further support the use of large multitracer spectroscopic surveys as unique laboratories for studying cosmological relics like neutrinos.

Strengthening the bound on the mass of the lightest neutrino with terrestrial and cosmological experiments

Patrick Stoecker et al.

Summary: The upper limit on the mass of the lightest neutrino has been determined using recent cosmological and terrestrial data. These results are more robust than previous limits and constrain the mass of the lightest neutrino to be barely larger than the largest mass splitting. Impacts of realistic mass models and different sources of N-eff have been shown.
