Line and surface defects for the free scalar field

Summary: For a single free scalar field in d ≥ 2 dimensions, most unitary conformal defects are 'trivial' and do not have interesting dynamics, with exceptions being monodromy defects in d ≥ 4 and co-dimension three defects in d ≥ 5. It is shown that the n-point correlation functions of a conformal theory with a generalized free spectrum must be those of the generalized free theory as an intermediate result.

Defect CFT techniques in the 6d N = (2,0) theory

Summary: The article investigates the relation between the 2-point function of the displacement operator and the expectation value of the bulk stress tensor, translating it into a constraint on the anomaly coefficients associated with the defect. It also studies the defect operator expansion of the stress tensor multiplet and identifies several new operators of the defect CFT along the way. Some technical results derived include the explicit supersymmetry transformations of the stress tensor multiplet and the classification of unitary representations of the superconformal algebra preserved by the defect.

3d large N vector models at the boundary

Summary: This study examines the coupling of a 4d scalar field to large N free or critical O(N) vector models on a 3d boundary. The beta function of the bulk/boundary interaction is computed at the first non-trivial order in the large N expansion. A duality is shown to relate the renormalization group flow of the free and critical vector models. Additionally, the theory with an additional Maxwell field in the bulk leads to decoupling limits with gauged vector models on the boundary.
