An N=1 Lagrangian for an N=3 SCFT

Gabi Zafrir

Summary: We propose a certain 4dN = 1 SU(2) x SU(2) gauge theory that flows in the IR to an N = 3 SCFT with a free chiral field, and discuss the properties expected of various RG invariant quantities from N = 3 superconformal symmetry. Additionally, we present a generalization to another N = 1 model related to a rank 3 N = 3 SCFT through certain marginal deformations.

Coulomb and Higgs branches from canonical singularities. Part 0

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: This paper mainly discusses the five-dimensional and four-dimensional superconformal field theories arising from canonical threefold singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory. It studies their Coulomb and Higgs branches, and proposes a relation between the resulting moduli spaces through compactification, mirror symmetry, and gauging. By applying this framework, it determines the Higgs branches of some 5d SCFTs and their magnetic quivers. Finally, it also computes the higher-form symmetries of the 4d and 5d SCFTs.

Maruyoshi-Song flows and defect groups of Dpb (G) theories

Saghar S. Hosseini et al.

Summary: By utilizing geometric engineering and BPS quivers, we studied the defect groups of D-p(b)(G) theories and found that in certain cases, a specific flow is compatible with known theories, leading to conjectures about the structure of defect groups, which were then verified in specific cases.

1-form symmetries of 4d N = 2 class S theories

Lakshya Bhardwaj et al.

Summary: The study identified the 1-form symmetry group for 4d N = 2 class S theories constructed by compactifying 6d theories on a Riemann surface, discussing the construction process and related elements, as well as exploring the possibility of generalizing the results. Additionally, the 1-form symmetry was derived from a Type IIB realization of class S theories to complement the analysis from 6d.

New aspects of Argyres-Douglas theories and their dimensional reduction

Simone Giacomelli et al.

Summary: The paper explores new aspects of AD theories in A-type class S, including the construction of conformal manifolds, structures of the Higgs branch, and features of three-dimensional gauge theories. It introduces new quiver gauge theories and proposes three-dimensional mirror theories for linear quivers associated with AD theories, providing explicit descriptions of magnetic quivers.

Generalized global symmetries of T[M] theories. Part I

Sergei Gukov et al.

Summary: This paper studies reductions of 6d theories on a d-dimensional manifold, focusing on the interplay between symmetries, anomalies, and dynamics in the resulting (6 -d)-dimensional theory. The refined notion of polarization on the manifold serves to determine the spectrum of operators in T[M-d], which often possess higher-group symmetries. Further investigations include analyzing physical implications such as symmetry breaking and enhancement in the renormalization group flow.

Conformal manifolds and 3d mirrors of Argyres-Douglas theories

Federico Carta et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on two infinite families of Argyres-Douglas theories in 4d, analyzing their conformal manifolds and discussing new properties and SCFTs. It also systematically presents the 3d mirror theories for these theories and discusses the 3d reduction and mirror theories of certain cases with gauging topological symmetries.

Non-invertible global symmetries and completeness of the spectrum

Ben Heidenreich et al.

Summary: It is believed that consistent theories of quantum gravity can be restored by broadening the concept of symmetry to include non-invertible topological operators, and the absence of these operators is sufficient to guarantee a complete spectrum for any compact, possibly disconnected gauge group. In addition, the completeness of twist vortices defined by a discrete holonomy around their worldvolume has also been proven.

5d and 4d SCFTs: canonical singularities, trinions and S-dualities

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: Canonical hypersurface singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory lead to 5d and 4d superconformal field theories (SCFTs), respectively. This paper focuses on a specific class of 'trinion' singularities in Type IIB, which give rise to 4d N = 2 SCFTs known as Dpb(G)-trinions. Reducing these 4d and 5d SCFTs to 3d N = 4 theories helps determine their electric and magnetic quivers.
