Stochastic processes shape the biogeographic variations in core bacterial communities between aerial and belowground compartments of common bean

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: This study compared core bacterial communities among five soil-plant associated compartments of common bean across five sampling sites in China, and found that stochastic processes dominated the core community assembly processes.

Effect of Two Different Sugarcane Cultivars on Rhizosphere Bacterial Communities of Sugarcane and Soybean Upon Intercropping

Yue Liu et al.

Summary: The intercropping of soybean and sugarcane is important for sustainable development, with different sugarcane varieties playing a significant role in influencing rhizosphere bacterial communities and nutrient utilization. Specifically, ZZ9 variety was found to increase bacterial diversity and create a more conducive rhizosphere environment for sugarcane growth when intercropped with soybean.

Intercropping With Aromatic Plants Increased the Soil Organic Matter Content and Changed the Microbial Community in a Pear Orchard

Yan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that root exudates from aromatic plants influenced the diversity, structure, and functional groups related to the N cycle of soil microbial communities, ultimately increasing nitrogen release in orchard soil.

Comparative Study of the Rhizosphere and Root Endosphere Microbiomes of Cholistan Desert Plants

Salma Mukhtar et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the microbial diversity of the rhizosphere and root endosphere of desert halophytes in arid environments of Pakistan, finding that Proteobacteria were more abundant in rhizospheric soils, while Actinobacteria were dominant in the root endosphere of halophytes. Bacillus, Kocuria, Pseudomonas, Halomonas, and Flavobacterium were commonly identified from the rhizosphere and root endosphere of halophytes across all three sites. This study highlights the potential for microbial diversity analysis to study the impact of abiotic factors on microbial communities associated with halophyte roots in arid regions.

Rhizosphere Bacterial Networks, but Not Diversity, Are Impacted by Pea-Wheat Intercropping

Barbara Pivato et al.

Summary: Plant-plant associations, notably cereal-legume intercropping, have been proposed in agroecology to reduce the use of chemical inputs in agriculture. Wheat-pea intercropping allows reducing the use of nitrogen fertilization through ecological processes. The study assessed the impact of wheat and pea intercropping on their respective rhizosphere microbiota, finding that the co-occurrence pattern in each crop rhizosphere due to intercropping was revealed through network analysis, indicating more complex rhizosphere bacterial networks in intercropping.
