Selective Isolation of Multidrug-Resistant Pedobacter spp., Producers of Novel Antibacterial Peptides

Joakim Bjerketorp et al.

Summary: Twenty-eight multidrug-resistant bacterial strains closely related or identical to Pedobacter cryoconitis, Pedobacter lusitanus, and Pedobacter steynii were isolated from soil samples by selection for multidrug-resistance. These strains produced a wide array of novel compounds, with Pedobacter strain UP508 producing isopedopeptins and other strains producing different peptides.

C17-fengycin B, produced by deep-sea-derived Bacillus subtilis, possessing a strong antifungal activity against Fusarium solani

Weixiang Liu et al.

Summary: The metabolites of Bacillus subtilis 2H11 from deep-sea sources, especially C-17-fengycin B, showed significant inhibitory effects on the growth of fungal pathogen Fusarium solani in tomato and legume crops. The study used various methods to confirm the antifungal activity of C-17-fengycin B, which also demonstrated good biocompatibility, making it a potential candidate for the development of biocontrol pesticides in the future.

Bacillus amyloliquefaciens YN201732 Produces Lipopeptides With Promising Biocontrol Activity Against Fungal Pathogen Erysiphe cichoracearum

Rong Jiao et al.

Summary: Bacillus amyloliquefaciens YN201732 has been found to have significant antifungal activity against tobacco powdery mildew, with bacillomycin D and fengycin playing potential roles in this process. However, gene mutations related to lipopeptide synthesis may also impact the biofilm formation of strains.
