Targeting Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor- ? (PPAR- ? ) to reduce paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy

Martial Caillaud et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the therapeutic potential of fibrates, specifically fenofibrate and choline fenofibrate, in reversing and preventing pain sensitivity in peripheral neuropathies associated with paclitaxel treatment. Additionally, these fibrates did not diminish the antitumoral effects of paclitaxel, suggesting a potential for their pharmacological repurposing in PIPN.

Single-cell transcriptomic profiling of satellite glial cells in stellate ganglia reveals developmental and functional axial dynamics

Valerie Y. H. van Weperen et al.

Summary: Single-cell RNA sequencing of mouse stellate ganglia identified six distinct transcriptomic subtypes of satellite glial cells (SGCs), with one subtype characterized by pro-inflammatory markers. Over maturation or differentiation axes, SGCs showed gradual shifts in developmental and functional pathways, suggesting dynamic physiological adaptations that modulate neuronal function. Unbiased pseudo-time analysis revealed two distinct trajectories involving the studied SGC subtypes, highlighting the heterogeneity and dynamic nature of SGCs in modulating neurotransmission.

Ascending dorsal column sensory neurons respond to spinal cord injury and downregulate genes related to lipid metabolism

Eric E. Ewan et al.

Summary: Regeneration failure after SCI is partly due to the lack of a pro-regenerative response in injured sensory neurons, with the response being less sustained compared to nerve injury. Decreased expression of lipid metabolism-related genes after SCI, including fatty acid synthase, may restrict axon regenerative capacity.

Phenotypical peculiarities and species-specific differences of canine and murine satellite glial cells of spinal ganglia

Bei Huang et al.

Summary: This study compares the phenotype of murine and canine Satellite Glial Cells (SGCs), revealing specific markers and functional subsets in both species. Canine SGCs resemble central nervous system glial cells and progenitor cells more closely than their murine counterparts.

Neuroinflammatory astrocyte subtypes in the mouse brain

Philip Hasel et al.

Summary: This study investigated the transcriptome changes of mouse cortical astrocytes after an acute inflammatory stimulus, revealing rapid and drastic changes over time. By sequencing thousands of astrocytes at single-cell resolution, it was shown that inflammation causes a widespread response with distinct subtypes undergoing inflammatory transitions with defined transcriptomic profiles. Spatial transcriptomics and in situ hybridization were used to attribute specific inflammation-induced reactive astrocyte sub-states to certain brain regions.
