Guidelines for Reporting Trial Protocols and Completed Trials Modified Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and Other Extenuating Circumstances The CONSERVE 2021 Statement

Aaron M. Orkin et al.

Summary: The CONSERVE guideline, developed as a joint extension for CONSORT and SPIRIT reporting guidelines, aims to improve the reporting of trial protocols and completed trials that undergo important modifications in response to extenuating circumstances. The guideline was developed through an accelerated, iterative process involving multiple rounds of meetings, surveys, and feedback from trial stakeholders globally. Professionals from 34 countries participated in the survey, with high levels of understanding and acceptance of the core concepts and implementation tool of the guideline.
