Roles of CNC Transcription Factors NRF1 and NRF2 in Cancer

Summary: NRF1 and NRF2, belonging to the same CNC transcription factor family, exhibit distinct functions in cancer cells. While NRF2 promotes tumorigenesis and resistance through metabolic reprogramming, NRF1 protects cancer cells by activating the proteasome bounce back response. The metabolite UDP-GlcNAc plays a key role in NRF1-mediated drug resistance.
