Small vertebrate and mollusc community response to the latest Pleistocene-Holocene environment and climate changes in the Krak acute accent ow-Cz?stochowa Upland (Poland, Central Europe)

Claudio Berto et al.

Summary: The Holocene is considered a crucial epoch for major cultural developments, and the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland in Central Europe serves as an important study area for detecting faunal, environmental, and climate shifts during that time. Through faunal community analysis and environment/climate reconstruction methods, researchers found temporary replacements of tundra and grasslands with boreal forests followed by temperate forests in the region. Climate data from rodent and herpetofauna analyses showed increases in temperature and precipitation until reaching values similar to or exceeding current climate values in the area during the Atlantic and Subboreal periods.
