Phosphorus doped nickel-molybdenum aerogel for efficient overall water splitting

Summary: A P-doped Ni-Mo bimetal aerogel (Ni-Mo-P) was developed as a cost-effective bifunctional water splitting electrocatalyst, demonstrating impressive HER and OER performance with low overpotentials. This was attributed to electron redistribution by Mo alloying and P doping, as well as optimal bond strength between H* and active sites. The Ni-Mo-P catalyst required a low cell voltage to achieve an overall water splitting current density of 10 mA cm-2.

Iron doped cobalt fluoride derived from CoFe layered double hydroxide for efficient oxygen evolution reaction

Summary: In this study, Fe-doped CoF2 was demonstrated as an efficient catalyst for OER, derived from the transformation of CoFe layered double hydroxide. The Fe-CoF2 nanoflakes showed improved utilization of active sites and promoted mass transfer, leading to a low overpotential and high stability. The high valence state change from the M F bond to the M O bond indicated the facile active phase formation during the OER process.

Development of Co/Co9S8 metallic nanowire anchored on N-doped CNTs through the pyrolysis of melamine for overall water splitting

Summary: In this study, Co9S8 metal-sulfide nanowire trapped in multi walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) was successfully synthesized and found to be an effective catalyst for water splitting. The addition of sulfur during synthesis enhanced the surface area and oxygen vacancy defects of the nanotubes, leading to improved catalytic performance. Doping with Pyridinic-N atoms, Graphitic-N atoms and thioamide S-atoms also contributed to the enhanced electrocatalytic performance of Co/Co9S8/CNT.

Efficient overall water splitting catalyzed by robust FeNi3N nanoparticles with hollow interiors

Ni/Co phosphide nanoparticles embedded in N/P-doped carbon nanofibers towards enhanced hydrogen evolution

Summary: Transition-metal phosphides are effective materials for improving electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution. NiCoP-decorated NPNFs showed the best HER performance in acidic conditions, attributed to the high specific surface area. NiCoP-NPNFs exhibited overpotentials of 183 and 280 mV at current densities of 1 mA cm(-2) and 10 mA cm(-2), respectively, with a Tafel slope of 94.5 mV dec(-1).
