A novel and green multicomponent transformation for the alpha-bifunctionalization of methyl ketones has been successfully achieved by combining heterogeneous catalysis and solar photocatalysis, offering a sustainable and practical alternative for the modification of ketone derivatives in water and under an air atmosphere.
Herein, a novel and green multicomponent transformation for the alpha-bifunctionalization of methyl ketones enabled by heterogeneous catalysis and solar photocatalysis has been described. This reaction is performed in water and under an air atmosphere, affording the corresponding products in a moderate-to-good yield. Our transformation shows a successful combination of heterogeneous catalysis and solar photocatalysis, giving a sustainable and practical alternative for the modification of ketone derivatives.
