A robust augmented ε-constraint method (AUGMECON-R) for finding exact solutions of multi-objective linear programming problems

Alexandros Nikas et al.

Summary: This study introduces a robust variant of the augmented epsilon-constraint algorithm, called AUGMECON-R, for solving multi-objective linear programming problems. AUGMECON-R outperforms its predecessor in terms of time and computational resources, and it effectively handles the difficulties associated with unknown nadir points.

Short-term hydropower optimization driven by innovative time-adapting econometric model

Diego Avesani et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the impact of the transformation of the electricity market on storage reservoir systems, and proposes a short-term optimization method for improving hydropower revenue using two econometric models. The study indicates that using the Autoarimax model can enhance the accuracy of electricity price forecasting and achieve higher revenues in hydropower systems.

The Impact of the Uncertain Input Data of Multi-Purpose Reservoir Volumes under Hydrological Extremes

Stanislav Paseka et al.

Summary: This study focuses on uncertainties in water management tasks, specifically on determining the functional water volumes of a reservoir during extreme hydrological events under conditions of input data uncertainties. It involves the development of simulation-optimization models and the application of the Monte Carlo method to comprehensively determine the storage volume of the reservoir. The practical application of the models in a case study of the Vir reservoir in the Czech Republic provides insights on the reservoir's resilience to hydrological extremes and suggests potential redistributions of functional volumes under conditions of measurement uncertainty.

Assessment of sustainable water stewardship and synergistic environmental benefits in Chinese industrial parks

Wanqiu Hu et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the water issues in industrial parks in China and proposes an integrated method to synthesize a water stewardship index. The index is used for 219 national-level industrial parks to quantify water use, efficiency, and conservation potential. Key findings suggest the need to improve water recycling, reduce conventional pollutant emissions, and develop unconventional water resources to enhance the overall environmental efficiency of the industrial parks.

Potential Climate Change Impacts on Water Resources in Egypt

Soha M. Mostafa et al.

Summary: This study conducted a comprehensive assessment of the impact of climate change on water resources in Egypt, focusing on irrigation water for agricultural crops. By utilizing global circulation models and climate models, the study estimated the increase in irrigation water demands in Middle Egypt under future climate conditions. The findings indicate that the rising water demands due to climate change will potentially affect water security in Egypt.

Impact of the quality of hydrological forecasts on the management and revenue of hydroelectric reservoirs - a conceptual approach

Manon Cassagnole et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of 7-day streamflow forecasts of different qualities on the management of hydroelectric reservoirs and the economic gains generated from a linear programming optimization model. It shows that forecasts with recurrent positive bias and low accuracy result in the highest economic losses, while forecast systems with underdispersion reliability bias lead to the smallest losses. These losses, representing approximately 1% to 3% of revenue over the study period, are influenced not only by revenue but also spillage, stock evolution, production hours, and production rates.
