Effects of Regulated Deficit Irrigation and Early Cluster Thinning on Production and Quality Parameters in a Vineyard cv. Tempranillo under Semi-Arid Conditions in Southwestern Spain

Luis Alberto Mancha et al.

Summary: The study found that the vineyard's response to the same irrigation strategy varied depending on the characteristics of the year. While overall biomass production increased with improved annual water status, the water status had a more significant impact on harvest by affecting bud fertility, especially during pre-veraison. Additionally, the increase in individual cluster weight only partially compensated for the loss of yield caused by cluster thinning.
