Does economic growth help reduce inequality of water consumption? Insight from evolution and drivers of inequality in water consumption in China

Qiang Wang et al.

Summary: Despite rapid economic growth in China, inequality in water consumption has not decreased significantly. Intra-regional inequality is greater than inter-regional inequality, with no single dominant factor causing the inequality. Targeted policies and greater efforts are necessary to reduce inequality in water consumption.

An Evaluation of Coupling Coordination between Rural Development and Water Environment in Northwestern China

Xiang Gao et al.

Summary: The study reveals that economic development is the main driver of rural development, and improved water efficiency is the major contributor to water environment improvement. The coupling coordination degree increased steadily during the study period, indicating a gradual shift from antagonistic to mutually beneficial relationship between rural development and water environment. The spatial differences in CCD are related to economic and social development levels, urban-rural integration, and natural conditions.
