Time-series analysis of the evolution of large-scale loess landslides using InSAR and UAV photogrammetry techniques: a case study in Hongheyan, Gansu Province, Northwest China

Qingkai Meng et al.

Summary: This study utilized InSAR and UAV technologies to investigate a large-scale loess landslide in Northwest China, revealing the deformation pattern and triggering factors through comprehensive analysis of 85 SAR images and three UAV flight surveys. The results show an accelerating trend in the western part of the slope, providing important early warning information for local governments.

Active Landslide Detection Based on Sentinel-1 Data and InSAR Technology in Zhouqu County, Gansu Province, Northwest China

Cong Dai et al.

Summary: The study utilized SBAS-InSAR technology to identify potential active landslides in the surrounding area of Zhouqu County, verifying the findings through optical remote sensing images and field investigations, ultimately confirming 23 active landslides. It was found that the deformation velocity of landslides in this area is mainly influenced by rainfall, with a lag effect.

Countrywide Monitoring of Ground Deformation Using InSAR Time Series: A Case Study from Qatar

Mustafa Kemal Emil et al.

Summary: This study identified areas of subsidence and uplift in the entire country of Qatar with high vertical velocities of up to 35 mm/yr; deformation rates were consistent with GPS station data; evidence of uplift in sabkhas due to continuous evaporation of saline waters and deposition of evaporites; increased deposition rates in sabkhas due to increased precipitation during the Sentinel-1 period; high subsidence rates over landfills and dumpsites; low deformation rates in areas surrounding known sinkhole locations.

Characterization of Variability of Unit Weight and Shear Parameters of Municipal Solid Waste

K. V. N. S. Raviteja et al.

Summary: The safety and stability of municipal solid waste (MSW) slopes are influenced by the unit weight, cohesion, and friction angle of the MSW. The variability in these properties can lead to catastrophic slope failures in landfill design. Reliability-based designs for MSW landfills need to consider optimal continuous and extreme value distributions to accurately model the variability. A statistical model is proposed in this study to better represent variability and optimize parameters for more accurate representation.
