Impact of vegetation cover loss on surface temperature and carbon emission in a fastest-growing city, Cumilla, Bangladesh

Abdullah-Al- Faisal et al.

Summary: Human pressures, changing hydrology and land resources have a significant impact on the carbon chain and ecosystem resilience. Urbanization leads to vegetation cover reduction, accelerating carbon emissions and increasing land surface temperature. This study used remote sensing and GIS techniques to estimate Land Use/Land Cover changes in Cumilla from 1994 to 2019, finding a concerning decrease in vegetation cover, urban expansion, and continuous rise in land surface temperature.

Assessing the impact of land use land cover changes on land surface temperature over Pune city, India

Kashyap Jyoti Gohain et al.

Summary: The study utilized remote sensing and GIS techniques to analyze land surface temperature variations in different land use and land cover classes in Pune city from 1990 to 2019. The results indicated an overall increase in urbanization, with a rise in built-up areas and a decrease in other land cover types, leading to an increase in land surface temperature during summer and a decrease during winter. The study also highlighted the urban cool island effect, showing higher temperatures in rural areas compared to urban areas and different trends in temperature changes across seasons.

Assessment of land use and climate change effects on hydrology in the upper Siem Reap River and Angkor Temple Complex, Cambodia

Kosal Chim et al.

Summary: This study assesses the potential impacts of future land use and climate change on streamflow upstream from the Angkor Temple Complex. Results indicate a reduction in streamflow under every scenario, with annual average streamflow reduced significantly. Current water supply may suffice to sustain the Angkor Temple Complex, but future scenarios show potential water scarcity.

Identifying future climate change and drought detection using CanESM2 in the upper Siem Reap River, Cambodia

Kosal Chim et al.

Summary: Cambodia is highly susceptible to climate change impacts like floods and droughts. Downscaling climate data is essential for understanding future conditions, with models showing significant warming and decreasing precipitation, leading to mild drought.

'Literature review on the analysis of climate change risks in the environmental impact assessment of dams'

Ana Rita Arnaud Loza et al.

Summary: Climate change is a global concern affecting infrastructures like dams, prompting the need for comprehensive assessment of associated risks in the approval process. International guidelines and national regulations suggest incorporating the evaluation of climate change risks in Environmental Impact Assessments. There is potential for further research on how the analysis of these risks is included in dams' EIA current practice.

Assessment of variation of land use/land cover and its impact on land surface temperature of Asansol subdivision

Niladri Das et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the changes in land use and land surface temperature in Asansol sub-division in eastern India from 1993 to 2018, attributing the temperature increase to urbanization, industrialization, and coal mining activities. The assessment of accuracy through LULC and temperature maps indicates a projected temperature rise in the coming years.
