Designing nanofibrous membrane with biomimetic caterpillar-like structured for highly-efficient and simultaneous removal of insoluble emulsified oils and soluble dyes towards sewage remediation

Shuangshuang Li et al.

Summary: This study presents a stable and environmentally friendly nanofibrous membrane with a hierarchical caterpillar-like structure for effective purification of oils and organic pollutants from sewage. The membrane exhibits superhydrophilicity, underwater superoleophobicity, and enhanced oil-repellency performance, along with ultra-fast flux and high separation efficiency. Additionally, it increases abundant adsorption active sites for demulsifying ionic substances and adsorbing organic pollutants, while demonstrating excellent removal rates and regeneration capability for complex sewage purification.

Electrospun polyimide fiber membranes for separation of oil-in-water emulsions

Chen Song et al.

Summary: The study investigated the separation performance of electrospun P84 polyimide fibrous membranes in emulsified oil removal, showing moderate oil rejections between 85% and 90%, with permeate flux restoration to nearly 100% after foulant removal by heat treatment. Compared to other common membrane polymers, P84 membranes demonstrated advantages in robustness against fouling and ease of regeneration.
